Last week, I came across a wonderful book titled, The Best Part of Me by Wendy Ewald. I was inspired by the story of what different children liked about themselves. I shared the story with my class and decided that we were going to write our own version of The Best Part of Me. This is our first writing project to be taken all the way to publishing this year and I am so proud of it! The students worked really hard. I displayed this project on a bulletin board outside our classroom and have gotten wonderful feedback.

We had such an amazing Grandparents Day last Friday. I would like to thank all the grandparents who made it. Mrs. Harriman, myself, and the kids really enjoyed having you come and visit our classroom. We also appreciate all your help with putting together our Me on the Map project.
We have been so busy these last few weeks! The kids have been working really hard practicing the components of Daily 5. These include Read to Someone, Read to Self, Listening to Reading, Word Work, and Work on Writing. During our guided reading time, I will be working with students in a small group to teach a reading lesson. While I am working with small groups, the rest of the class will be rotating though the Daily 5 activities. Below are some pictures of our class working on Read to Self!
